There hasn't been a time when being healthy has not been a part of my paradigm. One of my earliest memories as a kid is going to a funeral parlor with my grandmother to view the body of a friend. The adults would converse about the cause of death - heart attack, sugar (diabetes), cancer, liver disease (alcoholism), on and on.
My next memory is of myself standing in an open field, between two buildings where my friends and I played tag, kickball, softball, declaring that I will always work at being healthy and seeking peace. I have kept both promises
Being at peace with myself and others was not a difficult task. Setting boundaries and developing my own identity with morals and values was key to that. In my late teens, I started shopping at the local health food store - New Leaf. Trying foods, supplements and herbs I researched and read about. Playing organized recreational sports, exercising at gyms and community centers, jogging with friends has been steady. Practicing peace, deliberately and consistently eating quality foods and in the right quantity, and keeping it moving lead me to my practice - LEAP Living (Lifestyle Enrichment through Active Participation).
